Get to Know Dr. Barry Stromberg

In this week’s installment of “Get to Know the Park Dental Doctors”, we’re introducing you to Dr. Barry Stromberg. Dr. Stromberg practices at Park Dental St. Croix Valley in Stillwater. In his profile, Dr. Stromberg shares what he enjoys about the group practice setting, and what he enjoys in his personal life. Enjoy learning about Dr. Stromberg!

What made you choose dentistry?
My father was a dentist, so I grew up in the profession.  I didn’t decide to go into dentistry until my junior year of college.

What do you love most about being a dentist or what do you find the most rewarding?
I love helping people by improving or restoring their oral health.  It is rewarding to receive someone’s appreciation.

What’s your care/treatment philosophy?
Empathy goes a long way in developing trust with a patient.  I strive to show each patient that I genuinely care about their general health and let them know how their oral health can affect it.

Is there a particular area of dentistry you enjoy the most or like to focus on?
Restorative dentistry interests me a lot.  I also really enjoy the mix of procedures that general dentistry allows me to do on a daily basis.

When did you start or how many years have you been with Park Dental?
I have been with Park Dental since 2015.

What is one thing you love most about Park Dental?
I feel very fortunate to work with a great group of doctors and team members.

What do you enjoy most about being part of a group practice?
I enjoy the professional collaboration and case reviews that help to challenge my knowledge.

And now for a little fun, let’s get to know Dr. Stromberg on a personal level.

• What was your very first job?
  My first job was mowing lawns for neighbors and at my dad’s dental office.
• What do you like to do on your days off?
  I enjoy spending time with my family.  We like to play games, hike, cook, and watch movies.
• If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
  I would go to Italy. During the pandemic my family watched Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy. I’d love to follow his itinerary through each region of Italy.
• What’s your favorite movie?
  Growing up I loved Star Wars.  It has been fun sharing all the movies with my teenage son.
• What are your hobbies?
  I enjoy cooking.  Trying new recipes or perfecting old ones is always fun.
• What’s your favorite holiday?
  I enjoy Thanksgiving because it involves cooking and watching sports.
• What’s your favorite thing about living in Minnesota/Wisconsin?
  I enjoy the change of seasons.  I grew up in Northern Wisconsin where the changes can be dramatic.  It gives me something to look forward to every year.
• What’s your favorite color?
  Blue
• How many different states have you lived in?
  I have lived in three different states. I was born in Arizona, grew up in Wisconsin and now live in Minnesota.
