I recently visited to start the work needed to crown a molar. While the process wasn't pretty and it was easy to imagine that a fleet of construction vehicles was at work in my mouth, the gentle banter and conversation of Dr. Ullman and his assistant was comforting, relaxing--as if to make me feel like something quite normal was happening inside my mouth and I need not be concerned.

at first he said i had a cavity without looking in my mouth. when I questioned it on the X ray (I'm an MD and know how to read x rays) he took it back and said it wasn't a cavity. this makes me think he wanted to make money by"filling" a non existent cavity.

I feel cared about by this dental professional and there is value in the longevity of our years of contact.

I had cancelled my first appointment, so this one was sort of sqeezed into the doctor's schedule. He was with me a shorter time than usual. However, nothing showed on my xrays and my teetch looked good, so he really didn't need to.

the doctor did respond to me when I asked questions, but generally spoke more to his assistant than to me.

The doctor didn't spend more of a few minutes of his time with me during my appointment. He did answer my specific questions.

Doctor, and to a lesser extent, dental assistant, sat behind me when they were speaking to me. It seems to be a habit in the profession, but I strongly dislike not being able to look my interlocuter in the eye.

Dr. Spent 10 minutes with child who was extremely anxious about having a tooth pulled. It was clear the doctor did not have any patience for childs anxiety and was willing to give up within moments. Did not talk to the child about was would happen in a way that made sense or was comforting. Child left anxious, but also feeling bad about her experience, like she had done something wrong. Dr. made it clear he did not have time for that type of behavior and/or was ill prepared to support a child with dental anxiety.

I have a problem tooth which may require an appointment with an oral surgeon. I wish Dr. Ullman had taken more time to explain my options, and next steps in receiving a referral to the oral surgeon.

They sent in a new dentist. He immediately said that I needed to pay for 5 crowns over the next 5 years. To be honest, it sounded like he was a used car salesman. He told me to start building up my flex spending account to deal with them all so I wouldn't get root canals. He said one in particular was a priority, I asked about timing related to that. He kept on with his spiel and didn't listen to my question about timing. I had to repeat it before he told me that I should at some point in 2019 and then left. I have always felt I could communicate well with all of the dentists I've dealt with up until now.

My hygienist and Dr Ullman are the main reasons I go to this office as they are both fantastic to work with.

Dr. Ullman is sometimes slightly perfunctory/brusque.

I was concerned by the lack of patience demonstrated by the dentist during the procedure. His communication skills were lacking with the patient and staff and his level if frustration was obvious. Unfortunately, he created a situation where the patient felt they were at fault for errors being made. The difficulty with getting the materials to respond was blamed on the patient. As his level of stress increased, so did his frustration which was completely unprofessional.

Dr. Ullman was just "phoning it in" on my appointment and my son's. I would like another Dentist to thoroughly review my status. We did NOT get our money's worth.

The Doctor exam was done before my cleaning, which was the first time I've experienced that. The hygienist spent extensive time with me and noted gum conditions that the doctor didn't mention. It seems the Doctor should consult after the full evaluation rather than before.

Dr Ullman did an outstanding job. The associates colleague was also very courteous and polite. I really to come back. My visit was just a short one but it left a good impression on me about part dental on 917 Grand Ave, St Paul.

Dr. Ulman is awesome. I had some discomfort, but that is to be expected when one gets a shot and needs a filling -- nothing wrong with that. He did a great job of keeping me as comfortable as I could be.

I see the dentist for 1-2 minutes (2 minutes may be an exaggeration) of my visit and can tell you what three questions he asks me with every visit- the same three questions. And I answer them the same way.

Visits with the doctor are brief as there are normally no issues but I like that he seems conservative in treatment and doesn't add extra items in treatment.

Over the years, the length of time Dr. Ullmann spends with me at each appointment has decreased. However, I have been lucky enough not have any issues. That coupled with his additional experience may explain this, but his exam can feel rushed.
