Personal

I have been working in dentistry for many years and still enjoy doing a variety of general dentistry.  Practicing dentistry has provided me a chance to meet many nice people and establish good friendships. I also like keeping up with new ideas and procedures through a dental study club that I belong to.   It is a very rewarding career.

Away from the practice, I like to go on dental mission trips to Central America.  It is a rewarding experience and it provides me a chance to travel, do some reef fishing, and relax – all things I enjoy.  At home, I enjoy cooking, eating, and spending time with my wife, family, and friends.

The doctor seems rushed at each visit and when I brought up a concern I found out it was trouble with my sinuses not my teeth. The doctor explained it to me and said goodbye. Was there anything he would recommend I do for my pain? I never got the chance to find out.

I was having issues with sensitivity with 2 crowns. Dr. Lam filed each one a little bit so my bite was better. I was pleasantly surprised that what he did seemed to really help!

I disclosed that I have dental anxiety on my form and to the assistant, as well as what helps ease some of my dental anxiety. The assitant and seemed compassionate, but ultimately didn't do anything to support my needs. My dentist came in, asked my why I was there and then began talking again before I could answer his question. He did not walk me through anything verbally and began tapping and poking my area of pain without warning immediately after I disclosed that I haven't eaten/drank anything due to fear of increased pain. He increased my anxiety and I did not feel like he explained anything or treated me with compassion

I felt like the dentist was in a hurry with me. I also felt like I was just another patient or number. Not personable. He did look at my teeth and the job was adequately done. Not my favorite dentist. With that in mind we don't always hit it off with everyone.

Today I had a normal cleaning and x-rays were updated. No further dental needs were required after Doctor Lam saw the results and examined my teeth. He made a note about a few areas to keep a check on for future visits but no cavities were requiring attention.

he was not gentle when filling cavities. my son complained of pain during and he just disregarded him. he didn't wait for the gel to numb before injections and my child was yelling in pain. He didn't explain other treatment options.

I think Dr. Lam was over-scheduled. At one point, halfway through my treatment, he had to leave for 15 minutes. To take care of another patient. My wife, who is also a patient, said the same thing happened to her.

This past appt was just a cleaning, so very little contact. This dentist didn't seem to know how to use the EMR very well, couldn't find my history, was looking at a tooth on "watch" and I had to tell him it had already been taken care of, finally found the history section and read the tooth had already been taken care of. Didn't spend as much time looking at my teeth than my regular dentist does, so my confidence level was a little low by the time I left.

Dr Lam didn't acknowledge me upon entering the room. he was too busy whining about his schedule to the hygienist. he didn't hurt me but he moves fast and wasn't slow and deliberate. the Dr always feels my neck and under my jaw and tongue. all Dr Lam did was push my tongue aside with the mirror.
