Kid’s Teeth Snack Guide

Did you know that the foods your child eats plays a part in their dental health? With this snack guide, you can start adding more teeth healthy snacks to your child’s daily diet!

Snacks that won’t cause cavities:

Crunchy vegetables, lettuce, nuts, meat, cheese, almond butter (no added sugar), eggs, and water.

Snacks that won’t usually cause cavities:

Snacks like smoothies, berries, oatmeal, milk, fresh and crunchy fruits, yogurt, popcorn, whole grains, ice cream, and dark chocolate. The items on this list, including milk and fruit do have the potential to cause cavities quickly if snacking is frequent.

Snacks that will cause cavities:

Soda, juice, sports drinks, fruit snacks, dried fruit, cereal, granola and cereal bars, chips, pretzels, and crackers, desserts such as cookies and candy, and lastly, citrus. High acidic and processed foods (like raisins) can cause cavities quickly. These snacks should only be eaten as treats, not an everyday snack.
