General dentistry gives me the opportunity to build relationships with my patients and address their dental concerns. I enjoy working with a great dental team to provide a wide variety of dental services, as well as collaborating with the many talented colleagues at Park Dental.

Outside of practice I enjoy spending time with my wife, our family and friends, and taking advantage of the Minnesota outdoors. I love cheering for Minnesota’s professional and college sports teams, as well as taking my RC airplanes and helicopters out for a spin.

Dr. Pumper is the best! I had a cleaning down a few days before at another office and a few days later, the back of my mouth started bleeding uncontrollably out of nowhere, and I could not get it to stop. I called the after-hours line and got Dr. Pumper; he did a great job in trying to help me around 8ish-9ish at night. He was able to get the bleeding to stop for a little while, and then the bleeding began again around 3am, so I called back, and he called me and told me to come in to help me. I came in around 8ish in the morning, and he did a few things that helped stop the bleeding and recommended I follow up with my care provider due to the bleeding. Dr. Pumper showed that he cared about my well-being, although not my regular dentist. Not all providers care in that way, so I am very grateful he was on call in my time of need!

Dr. Pumper is fairly new to me... As a year or two back my regular Dentist left (along with my hygienist) to a new clinic. However, my treatment with him started with a tooth that needed a root canal. Dr. Pumper insisted my tooth could be saved enough for a crown. He was right and gained my trust. He doesn't push procedures on me... He is patient and informative on what might be needed, and if it is OK to wait. Recently he diagnosed a condition and prescribed a mouthwash that immediately cleared up the immediate issue, along with suggestions now fo long term care. For someone so young, he has crafted his profession in a way that is respectful to his patients. I've been to Dentists who don't listen, and make the patient feel embarrassed and/or uncomfortable bringing their issues into the clinic.

I had procrastinated coming back to the dentist for 4+ years due to some anxiety. While I've made sure my kids are seen each six months, I allowed myself to get behind in appts and thus had a lot of fear and anxiety around it. I didn't feel shamed or judged for not coming in sooner and once Dr. Pumper knew I was feeling anxious he did a really good job making sure I was comfortable, speaking to me in a caring way and ensuring me that they would take good care of me. The exam with him gave me the confidence to immediately book the appt to come back and have the dental work I needed to have done and even that was way better than I had expected but I suspect it's because he was very thorough in talking through each step of what he was doing and why. Probably my best dental experience I've ever had has been the most recent times I've been in.

I'm not sure if he was shaming me for my dental issues, or just is poor at communicating his concerns for my dental issues. I think being more upbeat about moving forward and fixing my issues is more important than questioning me as to why I've been too busy to come to have my issues fixed. there should be emphasis and positivity on a solution rather than the problem. I think he might prejudge his patients a little too much.
