It's always a pleasure to see Dr. Ann Burt - perhaps a surprising comment since I only see her in her role as my dentist. I always find her very informative and unfailingly affable. A nervous patient would find her manner comforting. (You might even catch her softly humming as she carries out a procedure. Lovely.) Dr. Burt's expertise gets top reviews, and given my limited experience, I would concur.

Dr Ann and I have known each other for years, but no matter how informal the discussions during my appointments, she is always exceptionally clear about exactly what she Is doing and why. She explains each movement step by step, so I understand what she sees and what I should know, though most of the time is filled with casual conversation. What I have really love about my dentist is she compliments me where I am doing well with oral hygiene. Pretty much every previous dentist I have ever had berated me or was passive aggressive in implying I should be doing more. I know I should be doing more. Unless I am brushing/flossing 24 hours per day, I am not brushing/flossing enough. I get that. But it's nice to positive feedback along with that message.

This is the first time I saw Dr. Burt. I don't know much about her but she seems very nice. There's no problem that we had to discuss but I mentioned about something that I was concerned about from the last visit. I didn't seem to have problem with it this time (yet). So those few questions above didn't apply to me and I don't know the answers.

I routinely leave appointments for my toddlers feeling like a bad parent. I'm fascinated by how out of touch the dentists seem with respect to small kids. Whether it is insisting on 2 minutes of brushing for an 18 month old, making me feel stupid for getting fluoride from the doctor instead of the dentist, or criticizing some fruit or cereal choice, I actively dread bringing my children in.

There was no further discussion about this and to how long the filings would last, what to expect with this, the cost, the science behind not doing this vs. doing it now vs. wait and see. They recommended something for my receding gums but I didn't understand that or how much it would cost. Sometimes the DA / Doctor say they recommend something and leave it at that. I would prefer they say, "We recommend this treatment and it costs $X which if you're on Delta Dental (I see that you are) would be half that because they pay half. The benefits of getting this are ___. The risks if you don't get this are ____. Would you like to schedule that? (or do you need some time to think about it?). In other words more direct is better for me...

Really disappointed in Park Dental staff in that my son had 3 cavities, and it was stated by the dental hygienist that certain x-rays hadn't been taken in a timely manner and were missed. If record keeping had been better tracked, I don't think I would be spending extra time in the evening and during a work day to bring him in. I understand the importance of brushing and flossing daily and some of the onus is on us, but also, kids miss a lot, and now he has a cavity in his adult tooth. With proper monitoring of his chart and ensuring x-rays were done in a timely manner, I am confident that this never would have happened.
